The Rajčány Family Name
The Rajčány noble family name is not a Surname. The family name remained free and noble for over 1,000 years since the proclamation. The 'Raj' Slavic clan lived in the Slovakian Principality of Nitra part of the Kingdom of Great Moravia.
The Rajcsányi de Rajcsany (Hungarian/Magyar) family name was proclaimed noble by the Hungarian King after ancestor Korus saved the King from a bear attack. Rajcsányi de Rajcsany/Rajčány family have had their own, official noble Coat of Arms depicting the heroic act. Present-day living family nobles have their own individual family Coat of Arms. The historic municipality of Rajčany (see Rajcany.sk) still bears the family name. Various historical records mention Rajcsányi/Rajčány, ancestors as Barons, Counts and Esquires to name a few. There are various other historic localities in Slovakia with ties to the Raj clan/Rajčány family.
I'm researching and writing a detailed family document on the origins of our Slavic clan name, Rajcany family name formation and noble family name with references to historic records. - Milan
